Describe Your Trip

Chapter 2 of 5

Tell Gemini About Your Trip

Here's the whole secret to getting a good plan: the more you tell Gemini, the better it does. If you just say “plan me a trip,” you'll get something generic. But if you tell it where, when, who's coming, and what you like — it feels like it read your mind.

You don't have to write it fancy. Just answer five simple things. Below is a fill-in-the-blank prompt. Copy it into Gemini, then swap the parts inside the brackets for your real trip.

Type or paste this into Gemini:

I'm planning a trip and I'd like your help. Here are the details:
- Where I want to go: Charleston, South Carolina
- When: the first week of October, for 4 days
- Who's going: me and my husband, both in our late 60s
- Our budget: about $1,500, not counting the drive down
- What we enjoy: good food, a little history, easy walking, and not being rushed
- What we'd rather avoid: loud nightlife, long hikes, and big crowds

Please give me a short overview of what a trip like this could look like.

Make it yours

Change every line to match your real trip. Going to see the grandkids in Ohio instead? Put that. Traveling alone, or with a friend? Say so. On a tighter budget? Tell it the real number. Gemini isn't judging — it's just trying to help, and honest details get you a plan you can actually use.

What Just Happened

Press Enter after you type it, and in a few seconds Gemini writes back a friendly overview of your trip — the kind of place to stay, the feel of each day, a taste of what's there. It won't be perfect yet, and that's fine. We fix and shape it in the next chapter. Right now you just want it in the ballpark.

Skits' Tip

One thing to leave OUT: anything private. Gemini doesn't need your credit card number, and it doesn't need your home address or the exact dates your house will sit empty. It only needs to know about the trip. Keep the personal-and-private stuff to yourself — a good habit online, always.

Quick Check — What Does Gemini Need?

Sort each item into the right basket. Some things genuinely help Gemini plan a better trip. Others are private — keep them to yourself.

How it works

1. Click a card in the tray up top — it lights up to show it's picked up.

2. Click the basket where that card belongs. It drops in.

3. Sort all six, then click Check My Answers.

Put one in the wrong basket? Double-click the card to send it back to the tray, then place it again. Nothing locks in until you check.

Where you want to go
When you're going and for how long
Roughly what you want to spend
The things you enjoy doing
Your credit card number
Your home address and when the house will be empty
Tell Gemini — it helps
Keep it private — it doesn't need this

Your trip is on the page. Now let's shape it.

You just did the single most important step: you told Gemini what you actually want. Everything from here is refining. Next we turn that overview into a real day-by-day plan — and I'll show you how to nudge it until it's exactly right.
