📝 Skits' Rules to Remember
Don't name where you're going.

"Out of the office" is enough. Cabin, beach, conference — keep it to yourself.

Don't pin down the return date.

"I'll respond when I return" beats "back July 8 at 8 AM." Don't hand anyone a deadline.

Don't list a coworker's email.

"Call our office at 540.303.2410" routes safely. A direct email hands scammers a target.

Don't say "I'm unreachable."

"Limited cell service," "off the grid," "airplane mode for two weeks" — all of them tell scammers nobody's watching.

Don't get sentimental.

Anniversary, first vacation in years, mission trip — the postcard later. Not the auto-reply now.

Calendar OOO ≠ "busy."

Only an actual "Out of office" calendar event auto-declines new invites. Pick the right button.

⚠️ The one rule your team needs to know cold: If an email arrives from you (or "the boss") asking for anything financial, urgent, or out of the ordinary — gift cards, wire transfers, account changes, password resets, new vendor payments — verify on a different channel before acting. Email asked? Call the cell. Text asked? Call the office line. The scammer controls the channel they reached you on. They almost never control the other one. Every time. No exceptions, even when "it really sounds like her."
