What's Happening

Organize, Protect
& Spring Clean

Ever lose a file and spend 20 minutes hunting for it? Yeah, us too. This month we're fixing that — and then some. We'll get your files organized, tackle those updates you've been ignoring (no judgment), clean out the junk that's slowing everything down, and by month's end you'll have a full spring tune-up under your belt. One week at a time, no tech degree required.

Jerry's

Corner

This month, we're building toward something.

I see the same thing every spring — folks come in with a slow computer, a mess of files everywhere, updates they've been putting off for months, and a computer that takes five minutes just to boot up. So this month, instead of waiting for the crisis, we're getting ahead of it. Each week builds on the last, and by the end of March? You'll actually feel good about the shape your computer's in.

After 40+ years in IT and 20 of those right here in Winchester, I can tell you: a little organization and maintenance now saves you from big headaches later. And most of this stuff takes 15 minutes or less.

Stick with me through March and I promise — you'll wonder why you didn't do this sooner. And if you get stuck on any of it, you know where to find me.

That yellow folder icon on your taskbar? It's the key to organizing everything!

Most people have never been taught how to use it. Family photos, tax documents, client invoices — they're all in there somewhere. Let me show you how to actually find them...

Open File Explorer Instantly

Win + E

Or just click the yellow folder on your taskbar — see it?

Red arrow pointing to the yellow File Explorer folder icon on the Windows taskbar
1

Build your folder system — Documents > Personal, Work, Medical, Financial.

2

Name files clearly — "2026-03-Invoice-Johnson.pdf" beats "Document1.docx"

3

Clean your Downloads folder — It's your digital junk drawer. Empty it.

4

Pin favorites to Quick Access — One click instead of five.

Spring Cleaning — For Your Computer

March is spring cleaning season — and not just for your house or your yard. Your computer’s been piling up digital dust all winter, and we’re fixing that. Here’s what Skits and I are tackling:

📁 Getting your files under control — that yellow folder icon is about to become your best friend
🔒 The free security you keep ignoring — those update notifications? They’re more important than you think
💾 Backing up your computer — before something goes wrong. Cloud, external drive, or both — we’ll set it up
✅ A full spring tune-up checklist — grab the free printable, stick it on your fridge, thank us later

New blog post every Sunday, and Skits breaks it all down on Facebook and social media all week long. Follow along — by the end of the month, your computer will be running like it did when you first got it.

Spring Tech Tune-Up

Skits the Handyman

You know that feeling when you finally clean out the garage and can actually find your tools again? That's what we're doing for your computer this month. The stuff nobody thinks about until something breaks — dusty vents, old files piling up, a backup that hasn't actually run in who-knows-how-long. A $5 can of compressed air and 30 minutes can add years to your computer's life. Seriously.

We've got a free printable checklist — stick it on your fridge or pin it to your office bulletin board.
